I’ve been an interior designer in Macon, Georgia for almost 5 years, and this edgy Southern city continues to surprise me in the best possible ways. (After all, before moving here, I had only heard of Macon on a very unflattering episode of Sex and the City.)

One of those delightful surprises has been the local art scene. I’m an avid art collector, and there’s some incredible talent here creating abstract and mixed media pieces that I’ve been scooping up for my clients, and for my own home too. Here’s a brief introduction to 3 of my favorite Macon artists.

Joe Adams

Joe Adams‘ pieces are vibrant and energetic, with an urban edge. I recently purchased one of his paintings for my dining room (photos coming soon!) and this piece will be installed in our downtown Macon loft project.

Joe’s art studio is available as an Airbnb rental (check out that hand-painted kitchen backsplash!) and would be an amazing place for a creative retreat or weekend away.

Anna Richards

Anna Richards‘ paintings just look like fun. There’s a freedom and ease in her work that I admire, and a bold confidence in how she applies paint, pastel, and collage. This 8×10 piece, titled “I Don’t Live Here Anymore”, would be an exciting addition to a gallery wall.

Kathleen Jones

I love Kathleen Jones‘ interpretations of traditional still-life paintings in a fresh and loose way. Her colors are on point (that teal and coral color pairing above is *chef’s kiss*) and I love that her works often include patterns that feel animal-inspired. I just purchased her Little Italy print and it’s so rich and vibrant in person.
